Messaging on Crafted Call
ArtistsGallery OwnersUpdated Sep 21, 2026
Crafted Call has built-in messaging so artists and galleries can talk inside the platform, with the thread attached to the submission, call or exhibition it is about. This article covers finding your messages, starting and replying to a conversation, attaching a file, and how galleries handle messages that were held for review.
Where your messages are
Messaging lives at Messages. Open it from the Messages link in the notifications bell dropdown, or from the Messages link in the site footer.
The screen has two parts: a conversation list on the left and the selected conversation on the right. On a phone you see the list first, and ← Back to messages returns you to it from a thread.
The left panel has three tabs: Messages for your conversations, Search for finding a message across all of them, and Settings for how you are notified.
Unread messages
Unread conversations are highlighted in the list with a count badge, and the list has an Unread filter alongside All, Direct and Groups. While you are on the Messages screen, your browser tab shows the count too, for example (2) Messages - Crafted Call, so you notice a new message from another tab. Opening a conversation marks it as read.
The count is for the organization you are currently working in.
Starting a conversation
Use the new-conversation button at the top of the conversation list. What you pick next depends on who you are.
If you are an artist
You message an organization, not a person. Your message reaches that organization's team.
To reach Crafted Call itself, choose Chat with Platform Support. Otherwise search under Select Organization for a gallery you have submitted to.
Choose a Department / Reason: General Inquiry, Technical Support or Gallery Operations. This routes your message to the right people.
Start the conversation, then type your first message and send it.
If you run a gallery
You message people, and you can attach the thread to your work.
Choose a Type: Direct Message for one person or for several, which also asks for a .

Group Conversation
Group Name
Search under Recipients for the artists, jurors or teammates you want.
Optionally set Link to a Submission, Call or Exhibition, so anyone on the team picks up the context.
Write your first message under Message (optional) and choose Start Conversation.
Linking a thread is the difference between an inbox and a record. A thread linked to a submission is findable months later by anyone who opens that submission.
Replying and attaching files
Select the conversation, type in the box at the bottom, and send. Your message appears immediately.
The paperclip beside the send button attaches files: images, PDFs and Word documents, up to 10 MB each. Each file is scanned before it sends, so there is a short pause between choosing a file and being able to send. Attachments belong to the thread you are in, and are cleared if you switch conversations before sending.
Note: Messaging is for coordination and questions. Do not send card numbers, bank details or full payout information. Payments and payouts have their own secure flows.
Managing a thread
The menu in a thread header gives you:
Mark as Unread, to bring a thread back to the top of your list. This also unarchives it, so the reminder is actually visible.
Archive Conversation and Unarchive Conversation.
Block a sender, for a gallery dealing with someone who will not stop.
New activity on an archived conversation brings it back into your inbox on its own.
Messages held for review
To protect galleries from spam and policy violations, some incoming messages are held instead of delivered. They are reviewed at Flagged Messages, reached from the admin messages area.
Filter by status: Pending review, Approved, Rejected or Banned.
Add a Moderator note (optional) explaining your decision.
Act on the message: Approve delivers it, Reject blocks it, and Ban stops the sender from sending anything further. Banning asks you to confirm and can be reviewed later.
Check this queue regularly. Most held messages are spam, but a genuine one lands there occasionally and its sender has no idea it did not arrive.
Finding an old message
The Search tab searches across your messages, with filters for date range, type and sort order, and an export to CSV. If the export would be very large it is capped, and the notice tells you how many messages were exported and how many matched, so you can narrow the filters and export again.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find a conversation.
Use the Search tab. Also check whether the thread is archived.
I am an artist and cannot find a gallery to message.
Search by the organization's name. Search terms need at least two characters. For platform help, choose Chat with Platform Support.
My message never reached a gallery.
It may have been held for spam or policy review. A gallery can approve a held message from their Flagged Messages queue.
I am not being notified about new messages.
Check the Settings tab in the messaging sidebar, then your account Notification Preferences.

Can I attach a photo of the work?
Yes, with the paperclip in the message box. Images, PDFs and Word documents up to 10 MB each.
