Publishing a call costs nothing on any plan. What you pay for is what a call does: a flat platform charge for each completed application. Pay as you go has no subscription and charges US$1 per completed application; the paid plans charge a subscription and lower that platform charge. This guide covers what each plan costs, what it unlocks, and how upgrading, downgrading and lapsing work.
How pricing works
Every plan has the same two parts:
A subscription, monthly or yearly. It is US$0 on Pay as you go.
A platform charge per completed application. It is a flat amount, not a percentage: US$1 on Pay as you go, US$0.65 on Core, US$0.50 on Studio and Gallery, and US$0.25 on Premier. One application is one submission to a call, however many artworks it includes. Drafts, abandoned checkouts and failed payments are never charged. A fully waived application is never charged to anyone.
A third figure, the platform fee on artwork sales, applies when you sell work rather than collect entry fees. It is not the same as your own commission with the artist, which you set yourself.
Currency: platform charges are in United States dollars everywhere they appear, and they are labelled that way. If your organization uses another currency, an approximate local amount may appear beside the price as a guide only. Your bank sets the real rate and may add a foreign transaction fee. This is entirely separate from your own money: entry fees and sales run in your organization's currency.
Who pays the platform charge
When you publish a call you choose who pays the platform charge for that call. The choice cannot be changed once the call is public.
Your organization pays. This is the default. Artists enter a free call with no payment step at all. Completed applications accrue during the month and are invoiced on the first of the following month, one invoice itemised by call, charged to the card you save when you publish. There is no minimum bill; a month with no applications produces no invoice.
Artists pay. The platform charge, plus card processing, is added to what each artist pays to apply, and the total is shown before they start. On Pay as you go that is about US$1.34 per application. Your organization owes nothing for that call. This option is available on calls priced in United States dollars, and not yet for organizations in Australia, where the charge still needs a GST ruling. On a free-entry call the artist pays it as its own small checkout, which cannot be combined with other entries in the cart.

Two prices decide the choice for you. An entry priced above zero but below the platform charge cannot cover it, so the artist pays the charge on that entry whatever the call is set to. If every price on the call is below the charge, the publish card says so and fixes the setting to artists pay. If only some are, the call keeps your setting and the artist pays the charge on the cheap entries only; the call page and the entry form say which. Raising the entry price to at least the platform charge puts the choice back in your hands.
Calls published before 12 September 2026 keep the pricing they were published under.

What the platform charge actually costs
The charge is flat per completed application, so the entry fee you set does not change it. For a call that receives 100 completed applications:

Platform charges compared with Stripe's
The platform charge goes to Crafted Call. Stripe charges its own processing fee on every card payment, and Stripe deducts it before the money reaches your account. The two are separate. When artists pay the platform charge, the processing on that charge is included in the amount they see. See Understanding Platform and Processing Fees.
Changing plans
Plan changes live at Admin → Finance → Billing → Subscription, which needs the Owner role.
Upgrading takes effect immediately, and the difference is prorated so you pay only for the days remaining at the new rate. The lower platform charge applies to applications completed from then on.
Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. You are shown what you will lose before you confirm. Your data is preserved even where a feature is switched off, so upgrading again restores access to it.
When you start a cancellation, you are offered three choices rather than one: Cancel at period end, Pause for 3 months, or Downgrade plan. Pausing is the right answer for a seasonal program.
If a subscription lapses
If a subscription is cancelled, unpaid or paused, your organization is priced and entitled as if it were on Pay as you go, everywhere, until the subscription is active again. Applications completed after the subscription ends are charged at the Pay-as-you-go rate of US$1, even on a call you published while subscribed. It applies from the moment the subscription stops being active, not at the next renewal.
This is deliberate. It also means a failed payment is worth fixing quickly: update the card on your billing page, and normal pricing resumes.
Billing and payment
Your subscription renews automatically. The platform charge for organization-paid calls is invoiced on the first of each month for the month that just ended, itemised by call, and charged to the card on file. From the billing page you can see your current plan and price, this month's completed applications by call, the next invoice date, your payment method, and your full invoice history with downloads.
If a usage invoice cannot be collected, we tell the organization's owners and admins and give you seven days from that first failed collection to settle it. Nothing changes during those seven days, and a later retry does not restart the clock. After them, four things stop until the balance is paid: publishing a new call, creating an exhibition, duplicating an exhibition, and exporting submissions in bulk. Live calls keep accepting artists throughout, and signing in, reading your calls and submissions, jury review, your billing pages, your invoices and updating your card are never restricted. Settle the invoice and the four come back on their own; updating the card alone does not lift it, because the invoice still has to be paid.
Payment is by credit or debit card. ACH bank transfer is available for United States bank accounts; from Australia and New Zealand, pay by card.
Common questions
Is there an activation fee? No. Publishing a call is US$0 on every plan.
Can I be stopped from publishing the moment a payment fails? No. You have seven days from the first failed collection, and only publishing new calls, creating or duplicating exhibitions and bulk submission exports stop after that. Existing calls never stop accepting artists.
Is there a minimum bill? No. You pay per completed application. A month with no applications costs nothing on Pay as you go.
Does the charge depend on my entry fee? No. It is the same flat amount whether the entry is free or paid, and however many artworks an application includes.
Are there limits on calls or submissions? No, on any plan. The exhibition limit is about how many exhibitions are publicly active at once, not how many you can create. Drafts and exhibitions still being installed do not count.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly? Yes, from the subscription page. The new cycle starts at your next renewal.
What happens to my data if I cancel? It stays. Paid features switch off at the end of the cycle and the organization moves to Pay as you go. Resubscribe at any time.
