Negative space and light are fundamental to artistic composition and intention. Light and dark work together to evoke larger and deeper meanings. This open call seeks work that emphasizes these elements - the space that surrounds, the light that reveals, the dimensionality the results from both. Positive and negative space, light and dark, should create a composition that reveals their significance together.
Artists are invited to consider how absence can hold as much meaning as presence; how light can carve form, suggest movement, or create emotional resonance; and how darkness might function as a container, a threshold, or a place of rest. Work may explore literal or conceptual interpretations of negative space and illumination: architectural voids, shadows, silhouettes, atmospheric light, quiet intervals, or the tension between what is visible and what is implied. Unconventional and innovative interpretations are encouraged.
