Peonies are a tough and resilient flower, one of my favorites. This seemed like a fitting piece for this show!

Artist Statement
My current art practice came about after becoming a mom. Feeling like I’d lost my identity, I needed to do something just for ME. So every night I’d dedicate some time, even just five minutes, to art of some sort: digital, watercolor, pastels, collage.
My main pursuit these days is having fun with my art. No rules, no worry, just creating for myself. Flowers have always been my subject of choice…The colors! The textures! The busyness of a bouquet! My latest paintings, a series of flowers and bouquets, all start with no rhyme or reason, just layering paint down. Then comes the fun of taking a closer look and deciding what could be a flower? Anything goes!
