About This Work
She Was the Universe (Not Enough) began with a found poem and the phrase “she was the universe.” As I worked, that certainty began to unravel. An ombré spiral emerges from within the figure, moving from light into darkness. Altered plastic, handmade paper, and CD fragments grow outward and begin to overtake the edges of the piece. The work holds the contradiction between “the universe” and “not enough” without resolving where either judgment comes from—or whether this unraveling is destruction, growth, or release.
